The landscape of scientific research is ever-evolving, presenting new challenges that demand access to cutting-edge scientific instruments and tools. In order to drive breakthrough discoveries and propel the scientific community forward, constant adaptation, upgrading, and innovation are essential. This is where the „Next generation of scientific instrumentation, tools, and methods, and advanced digital solutions” (INFRATECH) grant comes into play. 🚀

The primary objective of the INFRATECH program is to foster the development of groundbreaking research infrastructure (RI) technologies, including scientific instruments, tools, methods, and advanced digital solutions. By doing so, it aims to ensure that Research Infrastructures in the EU and Associated Countries maintain the highest level of excellence in science, while also spearheading innovative solutions to address societal challenges and drive new industrial applications, products, and services. 🌍💡

The future is calling for new instruments and tools that can keep pace with the demanding scientific and societal challenges of our time. From advanced sensors and imaging devices to light source detectors, high-tech developments for accelerators, and even robots and automated solutions, the possibilities are boundless. Furthermore, advanced digital solutions such as digital twins, data analytics, and AI tools hold immense potential for upgrading RIs and enabling groundbreaking solutions. 🌟🔬💻

Proposals submitted for the INFRATECH grant should outline credible pathways to achieving the following impactful outcomes:

1️⃣ Enhanced global competitiveness and technological excellence: Through investments in forward-looking technical instruments and tools for European Research Infrastructures, the EU and Associated Countries can fortify their position in an increasingly fast-moving environment.

2️⃣ Enhanced competitiveness of the EU and Associated Countries’ industry: Co-development of advanced RI technologies with industrial actors and effective technology transfer will strengthen the competitiveness of industries within the EU and Associated Countries.

3️⃣ Opening up new areas of research and development: The INFRATECH program aims to unlock unexplored research avenues, fostering the development of new industrial applications and products that have the potential to reshape industries.

4️⃣ Development of skills aligned with technological advancements: As RI technologies advance, it is crucial to equip Research Infrastructure staff with the necessary skills to leverage these advancements effectively and drive impactful outcomes.
