Ingenu and the City of Dallas Announce Availability of Machine Network Built Specifically for IoT Traffic

ingenuIngenu™, the pioneer in delivering connectivity exclusively to machines, and the City of Dallas, Texas, today announced the deployment of Ingenu’s Machine Network™ in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Immediately available, the Machine Network will provide IoT (Internet of Things) connectivity to the region and will cover approximately 2,116 square miles, serving a population of more than 4.4 million people.

The Machine Network is powered by Ingenu’s RPMA® (Random Phase Multiple Access) communication technology, which provides robust, reliable connectivity across myriad operating environments.  As a result of its superior range and capacity, RPMA requires minimal infrastructure investment, with only 17 access points delivering connectivity to the entire Dallas/Fort Worth region. Conversely, it would take 10 to 30 times the cellular infrastructure to provide similar coverage.

“The Dallas/Fort Worth metro area is leading the country in technology innovation, and we are excited to have Ingenu’s powerful network enabling IoT connectivity in our community,” said William Finch, Chief Information Officer, City of Dallas. “The Internet of Things is an important technology strategy for the region, and the Machine Network will accelerate the deployment and adoption of limitless IoT solutions.”

Application development for the Machine Network is currently underway with partners such as Dallas-based, Plasma, a leader in enterprise digital transformation and IoT.  The company is partnering with Ingenu to support various Smart Cities initiatives. Plasma’s C2M™ is a code-free, enterprise-grade IoT platform that allows rapid prototyping and deployment of IoT and mobile solutions. The platform’s vast set of built-in functionality such as connectivity, device management, big data storage, analytics, machine learning, visualization, event management and business workflows make it a very comprehensive and powerful platform.

Ingenu will also be collaborating with the developer community in the Dallas/Fort Worth area through its sponsorship of the HackDFW hackathon event, taking place April 16-17, 2016, at Gilley’s Dallas. Ingenu will be awarding a cash prize to the competitor for the “Best Use of RPMA Technology”. For detailed information on the HackDFW event, visit www.hackdfw.com.

“The greater Dallas/Fort Worth area is one of the most machine-dense areas in the country,” said John Horn, CEO of Ingenu. “Because of its strong ties to the IoT-rich technology, oil and gas, and transportation industries, Dallas/Fort Worth is a natural fit to turn on the first segment of the Machine Network as we continue the buildout across the country.”

About RPMA

Utilizing globally available spectrum, Ingenu’s RPMA® (Random Phase Multiple Access) technology is purpose-built for M2M/IoT connectivity, offering unparalleled range, coverage and capacity with extremely low power requirements and longer-lasting battery life. It uniquely enables devices to connect more efficiently and cost-effectively in both the uplink and downlink. Requiring fewer towers to provide coverage to large areas (1:10 to 1:30 radio towers needed for RPMA vs. cellular), RPMA is rapidly becoming a global standard for IoT communication.
