iDirect Integrates XipLink Virtual Optimization Solution with New X7-EC Satellite Remote

VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), a company of Vision Technologies Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced that the XipLink Virtual (XV) Optimization solution is a supported application to run on the new iDirect X7-EC (embedded computing) satellite remote. This integrated solution couples advanced optimization capabilities with next-generation embedded computing hardware to improve traffic throughput and efficiency for mobile operators and enterprise networks. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.

X7-EC Product ImageThe XipLink XV includes their Wireless Link Optimization suite of tools offering a range of acceleration, compression and optimization capabilities that enhance network throughput. The XipLink Wireless Link Optimization delivers an optimal solution for mobile operators and diverse enterprise requirements, featuring:

  • Scalable TCP Acceleration that increases the usable bandwidth from 40% to 200% gain for all TCP applications, while also delivering a user experience benefit of 30% to 50% faster web page load times
  • Packet coalescing to improve packet throughput performance of the satellite modem
  • A byte caching engine that helps reduce bandwidth by 70-80%
  • Link bonding and balancing capabilities that allow for more bandwidth and higher link availability
  • Advanced Cellular Compression for optimizing mobile-specific traffic

The iDirect EC series of remotes enhance customer value by consolidating solutions that typically require the use of a multi-box configuration into a 1U rack-mounted form factor, and features extra processing power and memory needed to run value-added software applications. Each EC remote must be paired with a licensable application to create an enterprise-class solution.

The XipLink XV solution will be licensed for use with the X7-EC, a variant of the iDirect X7 satellite remote with advanced features such as two DVB-S2 demodulators, multicast capabilities and advanced mobility features with extra computing power. The integrated solution will be offered in three different XV license options based on throughput requirements and the number of sessions supported: XV-500i: (4 Mbps and 500 sessions); XV-4000i: (16 Mbps and 4000 sessions); and XV-6000i: (50 Mbps and 6000 sessions).

“Our customers rely on XipLink optimization solutions to ensure maximum bandwidth utilization over broadband satellite networks. By bundling our virtual solution with market-leading iDirect technology into a single-box solution, our customers receive a complete package that ensures the best performance and the most optimal cost of operation,” says Jack Waters, president and CEO, XipLink.

“The iDirect EC Series of remotes are developed to provide customers with the right solution based on specific market requirements like cost, throughput and mobility. By offering the XipLink Virtual Optimization capabilities at three levels of throughput, we help ensure that our customers have the appropriate bandwidth rate with the ability to scale up as market demands increase,” says David Harrower, vice president of business development, iDirect.
